Hi everyone! So, it’s been a while since we’ve posted anything but it’s because we’ve been crazy busy making our way through the rest of Central America exploring, volunteering, packing, unpacking, repacking, catching up on sleep and settling into our new home – London. That’s right, we’ve finally arrived! So now that we’ve finally found a place to live and that part is sorted, we wanted to play catch-up on some of the amazing places we visited during the last 4 months.
To start off our #flashbacktravel posts, we wanted to let you in on one of our favourite parts of Mexico way early on in our trip: cenotes (cue love heart emoticon). Our experience of the cenotes in Mexico was as extraordinary as we had imagined it would be. In fact, cenotes have become one of our absolute favourite memories from this part of Central America. So much so, that we’ve totally come up with grand plans with friends along the way to open up our very own #cenotebar one day complete with crystal clear blue water, lush jungle backdrop, amazing underwater fish and a selection of freshly baked sweet treats from around the world (shout out to Magus and Sandy!)
For those of you wondering, cenotes are underground water formations created from thousands of years of rainfall slowly eating away at the porous limestone base of the area. Some cenotes open up to the sky and resemble small sinkholes, whilst others are completely hidden in darkness underground or only partially accessible through holes where the roof has caved in (illuminating the water in amazing shades of blue when the sun’s rays shine through). They are truly one of nature’s most beautiful works of art.
Stay tuned as we update you with everything from the beautiful islands of Belize and Honduras to the mountainous regions of Guatemala and Nicaragua. Not to mention some jungle fever in Costa Rica and the beautiful scenery in Colombia! And then, once we start all our amazing European travels from our new base in London we hope to continue adding to our blog… so there is plenty more to come over the next couple of years!

If you had a signature drink at our future #cenotebar, what would it be and why? So I’ve decided I’m going to have two signature drinks on the menu… because, well it’s nice to have options especially in a such an exclusive cenote bar as ours ;)
1) “Kiss From a Rosé” – a beautifully chilled glass of rosé… pretty and refreshing served in a crystal clear glass to match the crystal clear water of the cenote for the #glam moments before your hair gets wet!
2) “Minty Fresh Mojito” – made with freshly-picked mint sourced from the depths of the luscious green jungle surrounding the cenote. Now that would make for a beautiful Instagram photo and would look just as good pre- or post-underwater mermaid cenote swim… #greenonblueongreen
If you had a signature drink at our future #cenotebar, what would it be and why?
“Cenote Water” – vodka, white rum, coconut rum, triple sec, sambuca shaken over ice and topped with saké. Just like the water in the cenote: it is crystal clear and refreshingly cool but drink it and you’ll be in the bathroom all night.
